Cairdac raises €17 million to fund the development of ALPS, the first leadless pacemaker powered entirely by the heart's kinetic energy.

Founded in 2016, Cairdac has developed the first leadless pacemaker that is self-sufficient thanks to an energy collection module synchronized with the heart's rhythm that allows it to be continuously powered. This is the very first time that an implantable medical device is able to generate its own energy when it is working and this "closed loop" concept has been designed, prototyped and successfully tested in animals.

The French start-up has announced its first Series A financing round of €17 million. This round was led by MÉRIEUX EQUITY PARTNERS (via OMX Europe Venture Fund), SUPERNOVA INVEST (via Supernova 2 Fund), BPIFRANCE and joined by SHAM INNOVATION SANTÉ (advised by Groupe TURENNE) and CAISSE RÉGIONALE DE CRÉDIT AGRICOLE MUTUEL DE LA TOURAINE ET DU POITOU via CATP Expansion.

Jérémie Swiecznik, partner, advised Bpifrance and Supernova on this transaction.
